Tractor Truck Pulls! Red Power Show 2017 Rockingham Summer Nationals Pul...

The new Turbo Star

The Flying Hawk Pulling Team from Porta-Westfalica, in Germany, together with the Gladiateur Pulling Team from France are currently building on a new 2.5t / 5500lbs. Light Modified Tractor with a turbocharged Continental V12 tank engine. Both Teams started with the new project in the winter of 2015 in the Flying Hawk workshop in Porta-Westfalica. The new project got a new homemade Domex wedge frame with a homemade steel rollcage, homemade wheelie bars, a hydraulic power steering and a Rockwell rearend. The new fenders of the Light Mod were built by the Rocket Science Pulling Team from Weert, in the Netherlands. The fenders are made from carbon fiber. His big brother called ,,Flying Hawk" has the same ones. The Teams purchased for the new project a set of new Northern Sheen aluminium rims from Canada with new cut Firestone Puller 2000 HP tires. The new tires of the Light Mod were cut by Steen Dam in Denmark.
The Rockwell rearend received a original Rockwell center section with a Rockwell diff, a Rockwell ring and pinion gear, billet aluminium ZF planetaries carrier housing with ZF planetaries and self built brake discs with billet aluminium brake calipers. The billet planetaries carrier housing were built by the Le Coiffeur Pulling Team from Georgsmarienhütte, in Germany. Also the Domex frame rails and the bent tubes for the rollcage were purchased by the same Team.
The newly constructed drivetrain of the Tractor gets a homemade reverser with a special manufactured driveline from Zahnradfabrik Lechleitner, a homemade 4 disc centrifugal clutch with a size of 11" inch and a homemade aluminium clutch bell housing. The new reverser has a CNC - milled aluminium housing with special made shafts and gears by Zahnradfabrik Lechleitner from Kamen, in Germany.
The new Turbo Star will have a turbocharged Continental AV-1790 V12 tank engine with 29.4l / 1790cui. displacement on methanol fuel. The engine ran on the old twin Continental powered Heavy Mod Tractor called ,,Wild Hawk" in the past. The tank power plant has a original Continental block with revised stock cylinder heads, original Continental camshafts with original valves and valve springs, original sleeves, a stock Conti crank with original rods and pistons, a new homemade intake and exhaust manifold, a 4 Schwitzer charger setup, a self built fuel system with Enderle fuel pumps and homemade injectors, a homemade fuel tank, a self built oil pan with a original oil pump and a electronic ignition with a Memotec built data logger.
Each of the 4 turbocharger feed 3 cylinder of the engine with air.
The Flying Hawk and the Gladiateur Pulling Team will compete with their new vehicle on German and French Pulling tracks this year. The maiden voyage of the new Turbo Star Light Mod is planned for the 7th of April 2018 at the German Indoor Pull in Riesa, Germany.

The Flying Hawk Pulling Team would also like to give a big thanks to their sponsors for the support on the new project !

The new Navigator Light Super Stock

We have reported in 2016, the Swedish Super Stock Tractor called ,,Silvia+´´ of Reinhard Stefansson was sold to a new Team from the Netherlands. Martin de Leeuw from Genemuiden, in the Netherlands is the new owner of the Tractor and running in the Light Super Stock division. He purchased the New Holland TG285 without the engine from Sweden. The Silvia+ wedge chassis was built in 2005 by the Swedish Team himself and received a homemade steel rollcage, a custom built hydraulic power steering and a shorted Rockwell rear axle housing. The hood and fenders of the ride are original off a New Holland TG285 Tractor.
The Rockwell rearend has a original Rockwell center section with a billet aluminium diff, a Rockwell ring and pinion gear and original CAT planetaries carrier housing with CAT planetaries. The rear wheels on the vehicle are a set of old 24.5 x 32 Firestone Puller tires with Midwest aluminium rims.
The new Light Super Stock also got a Profab 3 speed transmission with a homemade driveline, a van der Waal Pulling Parts centrifugal clutch with a VSP (Veldhuizen Special Products) fly wheel and a Browell steel bell housing.
The Navigator is powered by a 6 cylinder Powerstar engine with 7.6l capacity on alcohol fuel.
Martin purchased the complete engine from the Blue Thunder Pulling Team from Tonden, in the Netherlands. The power plant has a New Holland Power Star engine block with a modified NH Powerstar cylinder head, a camshaft from Jan Burggraf (New Generation Pulling Team), titanium valves, a billet crankshaft with billet aluminium rods and pistons, a custom built intake and exhaust manifold, a billet Holset HX82 turbocharger, a VSP alcohol fuel system with a VSP fuel pump, a 2 stage oil pump, a MSD 8 ignition and a Racepak data logger.
The new Team around Martin de Leeuw got a lots of help from Bram Kools (Interaction Pulling Team) during building time and the first passes. The Dutch Team had a great season with no major damage. Sometimes they had the idea that they have made progress, but after a run it turned out, they had to start all over. The Navigator Pulling Team learned a lot about the track and the machine itself. They have made the right changes to the setup halfway through the season. After the last changes to the setup, before the Indoor Pull in Zwolle, they had the idea and made the right decision. This was the best run of the New Holland so far. Martin and his Team are looking very positive at the current season and hope to compete in the top 3 of the Dutch Championship.

The legendary Super Stock Tractor called ,,Red Alert´´ of the Clarke Pulling Team from Buckingham in Great Britain is being offered for sale. Shortly before the new year, the British Team announced to sell their Tractor, because they are focusing on new projects.
The Red Alert Tractor was built in 1996 and ran the first 2 years very competitive with a 4 charger setup on diesel fuel. They finished in runner up position in 1996 and on the 3rd place in 1997 in the Euro Cup. The European Championships in 1997 were also very successful for Peter Clarke and Geoff Ashcroft. Peter finished in 2nd place of the 3.5t / 7700lbs. class and Geoff won the European Championship title in the 4.5t / 9260lbs. Super Stock class. In 1998, they switched from diesel to alcohol fuel. The first season on alcohol wasn´t problem free but also successful. Another 3rd place finish in the Euro Cup point standings and a 2nd place in the 4.5t / 9260lbs. Super Stock class at the EC in Great Eccleston, Great Britain. But the most successful season of the Case IH Tractor was 1999. They are dominated the whole Euro Cup season, won all 6 Euro Cup rounds, the Euro Cup title and the European Championship title in Bouconville, France. Another successful season was 2002, who Geoff and Peter won another Euro Cup title. During rest of the years, where the Component Tractors came up, the old Tractor still drove competitive in the Super Stock class. From 2003 until 2014, Red Alert was still to find under the top 5 in the Euro Cup or on the European Championships.

The new Wind Up !

The Wind Up Pulling Team around the former pullingworld.com boss Sascha Mecking from Westerstede in Germany are building a new 3.5t / 7700lbs. Limited Mod at the moment. After many years as pullingworld.com boss, Green Monster Pulling Team crew member and DTTO Vice President, he decided to build, along with Thomas Tönies, Christoph Raker Kai Uwe Wegner and Johannes Roling, a low budget Modified Pulling Tractor for the newly formed Limited Mod class in Germany. In the spring of 2016, Sascha Mecking and his team started with the work and the parts sourcing for the new project. The team purchased the old Madame Light Mod chassis with the rearend and the rear wheels in Denmark, 2 used V8 Chevy engines in Canada and a lots of used Pulling parts from other Pulling Teams in Germany. Not much is left over of the old Madame chassis, only the complete rearend with the planetaries. The first thoughts were to use the old Chassis for the new project, but that was a letdown. The chassis wasn't wide enough for the V8 engine starters and the rollcage was too small for big people.
So plan B, building a new chassis. The newly built homemade chassis is a Domex wedge frame with a homemade steel rollcage, the old Madame Scania / MAN rearend, a new hitch construction, a homemade steering and self built engine brackets.
One advantage is, the new chassis is lighter than the old Madame Light Mod chassis and it's easier to change the Domex frame rails at a damage. The Domex frame rails and the bent pipes for the rollcage were purchased at the Le Coiffeur Pulling Team from Georgsmarienhütte, in Germany. The fenders on the new ride are built from aluminium sheet metal. The rear end is a shorted Scania Truck rear axle. The rear axle has a Scania center section with a original differential, a stock ring and pinion gear and stock MAN planetaries carrier housing with original MAN planetaries. The Limited Mod will also have a 3 speed Kippley gearbox with a homemade drivetrain, a 11 inch centrifugal Eagle clutch with 4 disks and a old steel clutch bell housing. The Kippley gearbox was in the Madame Chassis package and the ratios changed with the support of the Green Monster Pulling Team from Germany.
Tires: Normaly they had planned to put the old Firestone 8 ply puller tires on the Tractor, but than they got the opportunity to test the first prototype generation of the new Alliance Rocket Puller tires on the tractor.
The new Rocket Pullers will be put on a set of newly built sheet metal steel wheels from Christian Keisers (Trecker Treck Team Sonsbeck).
The new Wind Up will have 2 single turbocharged LQ4 Chevy V8 engines on methanol with 6l displacement each. The engines were e.g. used in the Hummer H2 or in the Chevy Pick Up trucks and vans in the past and have never been used in Tractor Pulling in Europe before.
Each power plant will have a Chevy cast iron engine block with Chevy aluminium heads, new better head gaskets, LJMS turbo camshafts, better and stonger valve springs, better push rods, new high quality head studs, a original Chevy LQ4 crank with new Scat rods and stock pistons, new oil pumps original sleeves, the original intake manifold,  exhaust manifolds by Racing Innvation. Supply of air will be done by two Schwitzer S4T turbochargers with 80mm intake, Fuel and spark an AmpEFI system feed by a Hillborn -4 fuel pump. The stainless steel fuel tank in front of the chassis is off the old German triple Allison called ,,Green Fighter´´.
The Team are currently working hard on the Tractor to get everything ready for the 2018 season.
The maiden run of the Limited Mod is planned for summer 2018 in Germany.
Special thanks go the Otte and Sandberg families, Little Johns Motorsports as well as the Green Monster Team!
